My Little Pony

(This is Nate) Some short video of Ben riding a pony at the Philadelphia Zoo a couple of weeks ago in a cool hat. Um, does my voice always sound like that?

Downashore

(This is Nate) Spent the long Holiday weekend with the Cline's, Murray's and Roble's in Sea Isle City...thought I'd share a few pictures of Ben. Needless to say, he had a ball. And Mom & Dad appreciated all the helping hands...though not so much the 5:45 AM wake ups.

Thank You.

On Friday Ben had his 18 month doctor's visit. All in all, he's pretty perfect. He's a little under the average in weight and above average in height (he does not get that build from the Rossini's!).

The doctor said he's doing great, and was amazed by how good his vocabulary is. Before we went for the appointment I was prepping Ben by telling him he has to say "Hi Doctor" and then stick out his tongue and say "AAAAAAHHH". When the doctor came in, on cue Ben did his thing. It was pretty funny.

But the standout moment was when the doctor gave Ben the tongue depressor after he looked in his throat. Very clearly Ben said "Thank you Doctor". It was moment this proud mother will never forget...it makes the fact that just 30 minutes earlier he pulled out 200 sandwich bags from the box and then had a full temper tantrum when I took them away seem completely inconsequential. My son had just used perfect manners. It was beautiful. The doctor said that 3 year olds don't say that and that Ben is speaking so well and clearly for his age. Oh, and no more shots until he's 4 - hooray!

Best Day Ever!

We had a great day today! We took Ben to the Elmwood Park Zoo, which is a small zoo in Norristown, PA. It was great for Ben because it's a good size and not terribly crowded. It has an awesome playground and he could get really close to the animals. After the zoo we grabbed some lunch and came home for naps (Ben and Mom).

In the afternoon, we did some yard work and played outside before dinner.  All in all it was super fun. Ben's catch phrase for the day was "Oh my goodness". He thinks it's HILARIOUS. He also liked telling people "See you later. Have a good weekend".

Mid-Toddler Crisis

Ben got some new wheels yesterday. Too bad it's been pouring rain for the past two days so we have to play inside...he can't wait to hit the open road.

Milestone Moment

On Saturday, Ben learned how to drink from a straw! I had tried teaching him a couple of other times, but he just couldn't get it. We were at a birthday party at the Perry's and I think that Ben just wanted to do everything that Connor could do (Connor turns 3 next month). Once he figured it out, he couldn't stop - he drank the whole juice box without taking a breath!

Yeah Nate!

On Sunday Nate ran in Philadelphia's famed 10 mile Broad Street Run. Nate had been training for a couple of months, and ran on one of two Pennoni teams.

Even though it was raining terribly, Ben and I trekked downtown to cheer on Dad. We are so proud of him, not only for finishing the race, but for pulling a pretty respectable time - for an old guy.

Please note that all participants actually know Nate's age because he busted out his high school cross country jacket to wear...because it was raining and all...(Nate '96)
